Sorry! A Nostalgic Repentance Primer
Enjoy this classic board game as an object lesson on heartfelt apologies.
Please tell me you remember this game!
It’s definitely a classic in my Millennial book. I remember racing to the game corner on rainy days during recess, trying to be one of the first four to get there so I could play this game.
At no point did my elementary school mind make a connection between this and repentance; but as a mom now responsible for referring more bickering than I’d care to admit, I find myself often looking for creative ways to get through to my kids so they can finally just get it.
It’s been fun to play games with my little ones that I loved as a kid, and it brings so many opportunities to pour into them. From character building to math, reading and problem solving practice, board games are great tools for building the bond within your family.
For this one, I’ve written a game discussion guide that walks you through all sorts of talking points for navigating the conversation about what distinguishes true repentance (and heartfelt apologies in general) along with fun ways to highlight the math and literacy aspects to this game.
Paid members can access the Sorry! Game Guide in our downloads library. (And if you haven’t seen it yet, we have one for Chutes and Ladders too!)
If you’re not a paid subscriber yet, consider upgrading! You’ll get free access to these downloads (normally $5 each on our website) plus bonus content and 1:1 chat support.
So if you’re wanting something to breakup the bickering in your house and (prayerfully) get through teaching your kids about genuine, heartfelt apologies, dust off your Sorry! game, grab our guide and some snacks, and head to the table for some family bonding and character building time. :)
